MOUNTAIN GLASSES WITH CATEGORY 4 LENSES FOR MOUNTAINEERING: MODEL EIGER
The passion for mountains runs deep. The rustling of the wind in the trees, the sound of our footsteps along the path, the solidity of the stones underfoot, and the sense of freedom we cherish in nature all culminate in the satisfaction of reaching the summit. For those who love high-altitude mountaineering, protecting your eyes is of utmost importance and cannot be overlooked. It is well known that in the high mountains, mountaineers need not only category 4 lenses that effectively protect against UV rays (which are stronger than at lower altitudes) but also against the intense light that directly and reflectively bounces off ice and snow. DEMON has created a line of mountain glasses with category 4 lenses for mountain lovers, enthusiasts, and outdoor adventurers. With DEMON, you can focus solely on what truly matters: your journey and experiences.
CATEGORY 4 LENSES FOR MAXIMUM EYE PROTECTION:
Category 4 lenses are technical lenses recommended for high-altitude hiking and mountaineering. They are particularly suitable for use on glaciers, where the strong reflection of sunlight off snow and the monochromatic white of ice can be very irritating without the right lenses. Additionally, category 4 lenses can be used outside of mountain environments in extremely bright conditions and for individuals who are particularly sensitive to light.

Hiking and Mountaineering:
As described, the category 4 lens is specifically designed for use in the mountains during hiking and mountaineering. Its construction effectively protects the eyes from all UV-A and UV-B rays, which become much more intense at higher altitudes due to reduced atmospheric shielding. Consequently, the sun’s rays and light intensity are greater, making category 4 lenses the best choice for ensuring constant eye comfort, even with prolonged use. Extreme mountaineering expeditions require the best technology for all necessary equipment. For eye protection, either the category 4 lens or the photochromic lens 2-4 (which reaches category 4 when light and UV intensity thresholds are exceeded) is recommended to avoid severe eye irritation that could interrupt the expedition. It’s also important to note that above a certain altitude, snow masks are used instead of light protection to cover more of the face, preventing frostbite—this is particularly applicable to extreme expeditions like Everest, K2, and other high-altitude peaks.
FRAME AND ACCESSORIES:
TR90 Frame: The TR90 frame is made from a special blend of nylon and carbon fiber, used by DEMON for all mountain eyewear frames. It is hypoallergenic and suitable for extreme conditions, even with prolonged use, without causing skin irritation. TR90 is exceptionally elastic and resistant to impacts and mechanical stress, being 20% lighter than conventional materials. A frame built with this material typically weighs between 20 and 45 grams, depending on the thickness. Performance is DEMON's top priority, making the TR90 frame the ideal choice for those seeking maximum performance, comfort, safety, and aesthetics. The TR90 frame has a memory feature that allows it to gently adapt to the shape of your face and return to its original state when removed, maintaining its shape even at extreme temperatures. It also boasts a longer lifespan, demonstrating greater resistance over time compared to frames made from other conventional plastics.
Non-slip Rubberized Parts: Made from soft, non-slip Megol, an ultra-light, hypoallergenic material, these parts enhance comfort and prevent slippage towards the nose, especially in critical areas where maximum stability is needed.
Sweat Sponge: The sweat sponge is made from high-density hypoallergenic material and is essential for mountaineers. It performs multiple functions:
- Sweat Prevention: Prevents sweat from reaching the eyes during intense activities.
- Air and Debris Protection: Blocks air and debris (e.g., dust) from contacting the eyes.
- Light Protection: Prevents lateral light rays from reaching the eyes, ensuring clear vision. The sponge is removable and can be used according to the mountaineer’s needs.
Elastic Cord: The EIGER model includes a removable elastic band made of flexible material, enhancing comfort and stability during critical conditions and difficult terrain. It keeps the glasses stable and close to the face, effectively protecting the eyes from air, cold, dust, and debris encountered on the journey.
The mountain glasses with category 4 lenses for mountaineering and hiking guarantee maximum performance without compromise.
The measurements of the EIGER glasses are:
