GRAVEL combines the wide coverage of single-lens sports eyewear with an integrated optical clip for prescription lenses. Designed primarily for road cycling and mountain biking, it pairs a lightweight TR90 frame with DCHROM® mirrored photochromic lenses in Category 1–3, helping the eyewear adapt as outdoor light conditions change. The prescription insert sits behind the main sports lens, allowing athletes who require optical correction to retain the protective, wraparound character of the GRAVEL design while using lenses prepared to their own prescription.

Prescription Vision Inside a Wide Sports Shield
The GRAVEL prescription system separates two different functions. The outer Base 8 sports lens provides the wide, strongly curved profile typical of performance eyewear, while the internal Base 6 optical clip holds the corrective lenses. This makes it possible to combine a broad sports shield with prescription vision without turning the entire external lens into a prescription lens.
The wide shape is particularly suited to dynamic cycling use, where coverage from air, dust, insects and small debris is valuable. At the same time, the 30-gram TR90 construction keeps the overall eyewear light enough for extended rides.
GRAVEL has a unisex fit and is designed for athletes who want prescription sports glasses without giving up the visual appearance and coverage of a large single-lens frame.
DCHROM® Mirrored Photochromic Lens — Category 1–3
The main GRAVEL lens uses DCHROM® photochromic technology. The lens reacts to UV exposure by becoming darker as light intensity increases and gradually returning towards its lighter state when UV exposure decreases. On this version, the photochromic range extends from Category 1 to Category 3.
This makes the lens particularly useful for outdoor routes where brightness is not constant: exposed sections, shaded areas, changing weather and different times of day can all produce significant variations in available light. Rather than requiring the athlete to manually change lenses during the activity, the photochromic system adapts progressively to these variations.
The lens also features a mirrored external finish. The mirror is a distinct surface characteristic and should not be confused with the photochromic function: the changing tint is provided by DCHROM® technology, while the mirrored treatment gives the lens its characteristic technical appearance.
Optical Clip for Single-Vision, Bifocal and Progressive Lenses
The supplied optical insert is positioned behind the GRAVEL shield and can be fitted with prescription lenses by an optician. The clip uses a Base 6 geometry, less curved than the external Base 8 sports lens and designed specifically to accommodate the corrective lenses.
The verified prescription parameters supported by the GRAVEL optical clip are a maximum spherical power from -5.00 to +4.00 and cylinder values up to ±1.00. The insert also supports bifocal and progressive lenses.
Final lens suitability should always be assessed using the complete prescription, since lens design and individual optical requirements can affect the most appropriate configuration.

On the road, this wide shield helps protect the eye area from airflow, dust and insects. For mountain biking, the same coverage is useful when riding through changing terrain where vegetation, loose soil and airborne debris may be encountered.
The Category 1–3 photochromic range is particularly relevant when a route alternates between more exposed and shaded sections, allowing the main lens to respond to variations in UV exposure without requiring a lens swap.
