ALTAVIA Sport Fishing Glasses with Removable Side Protection
ALTAVIA is designed for anglers who need reliable eye protection, a stable sports fit and the possibility of vision correction during long sessions around water. Its distinctive removable side shields help limit peripheral light while adding protection from wind and environmental exposure, making the frame particularly suited to both freshwater and sea fishing. A lightweight TR90 construction, Base 6 lens geometry and prescription compatibility combine to create technical sport fishing glasses designed for practical, prolonged outdoor use.
Side Protection
Removable shields help reduce peripheral light and exposure to wind.
Prescription Ready
The frame can be fitted with prescription lenses through a specialist optician.
TR90
Lightweight and flexible frame material designed for active use.
Base 6
Sporty curved lens geometry providing good coverage without an extreme wrap.
Technical eyewear developed around the needs of anglers
Protection around the water
Fishing frequently means spending hours exposed to changing light, reflected brightness, wind and open surroundings. ALTAVIA has been developed with this environment in mind, combining a protective sports frame with removable lateral shields that extend coverage around the sides of the eyes.
The shields are particularly useful when light reaches the eyes from the side or when wind becomes uncomfortable during shore, river or boat fishing. Because they are removable, the level of peripheral coverage can be adapted according to the conditions and the way the glasses are being used.
Designed for long fishing sessions
The lightweight TR90 frame helps keep the glasses comfortable over extended periods, while the sporty Base 6 geometry provides a curved profile suited to outdoor use.
At approximately 22 grams, ALTAVIA keeps unnecessary weight low, an important advantage when eyewear is worn continuously for several hours while casting, moving along the bank, travelling by boat or concentrating on the water.
Category 3 mirrored lenses for bright outdoor conditions
The standard ALTAVIA configuration uses Category 3 smoke mirrored lenses, a lens category intended for bright sunlight and therefore well suited to demanding outdoor conditions.
The smoke tint is designed to maintain a natural visual impression in strong light, while the external mirror treatment helps manage the intensity of incoming light. This combination makes the standard version particularly relevant for anglers operating in exposed environments such as open banks, lakes, rivers and coastal areas.
Why reflected light matters when fishing
Water can produce strong reflected brightness, especially when the sun is high or positioned at a low angle. The removable side shields help limit light entering from the sides, while the main lens remains responsible for managing the light entering directly through the front of the eyewear.
When prescription lenses are ordered separately, lens solutions such as polarized filters may also be considered where compatible with the selected prescription and optical configuration. Polarization is particularly relevant to fishing because it helps reduce reflected glare from horizontal surfaces such as water, supporting greater visual comfort when observing the surface.
Sport fishing glasses that can be adapted to your prescription
ALTAVIA is suitable for customers who require vision correction while fishing. Prescription lenses can be requested through a specialist optician, allowing the sports frame to be adapted to individual visual requirements rather than forcing the wearer to choose between clear vision and protective outdoor eyewear.
Single Vision
Can be used for distance correction when the principal requirement is clear far vision while observing the water, shoreline or surroundings.
Bifocal
Can provide separate distance and near-vision areas for users who need to alternate between looking across the water and reading equipment or close-range details.
Progressive
Can provide multiple viewing distances within a single prescription lens, depending on the wearer's prescription and the optical solution selected by the optician.
Frame Technology
Lightweight TR90 construction
ALTAVIA uses a TR90 frame, a technical material widely suited to sports eyewear because it combines low weight with flexibility and resistance to the mechanical stresses associated with active use.
For anglers, these characteristics translate into a frame designed to remain comfortable during prolonged wear while coping with frequent handling, movement and changing outdoor conditions.
Lens Geometry
Base 6 sports profile
The Base 6 lens curvature gives ALTAVIA a distinctly sporty profile with more curvature than conventional everyday optical eyewear, while remaining less extreme than highly wrapped Base 8 designs.
This geometry works together with the lateral shields to create useful coverage around the eye area while maintaining the characteristics required for a prescription-capable sports frame.
Removable shields for adaptable peripheral coverage
One of the defining elements of ALTAVIA is its pair of removable side shields. Positioned at the outer sides of the frame, they are designed to limit lateral light and provide additional shielding from wind and surrounding environmental exposure.
This can be particularly useful when fishing in open areas where sunlight reaches the face from different angles, or when spending time on a moving boat where airflow can become tiring over a long session. When this additional coverage is unnecessary, the shields can be removed to give the frame a more open configuration.
Important distinction: the side shields provide physical peripheral coverage. Reduction of reflected glare from the surface of the water depends on the optical characteristics of the main lens, such as a polarized filter when that lens option is selected.
UV400 protection for prolonged outdoor exposure
ALTAVIA provides UV400 protection, designed to filter ultraviolet radiation up to 400 nm and therefore cover UVA and UVB wavelengths. This is an important feature for eyewear intended for outdoor activities where the eyes may remain exposed to sunlight for extended periods.
Built around sport fishing
ALTAVIA is specifically designed for anglers looking for technical eyewear that combines prescription compatibility, lateral protection and a lightweight sports construction.
