Replacement lenses designed for changing mountain light
Mountain light rarely remains constant throughout an entire outing. Sections with moderate brightness can alternate with exposed areas where sunlight becomes much more intense, particularly as altitude increases.
The EIGER photochromic replacement lenses are designed to respond to these variations without requiring a manual lens change. Their Category 2–4 range provides a technical solution for users who want one lens capable of adapting across a broad range of outdoor brightness conditions.
These lenses are supplied as a pair of replacement lenses specifically for the EIGER model, allowing the original photochromic configuration of the eyewear to be restored when replacement is required.
How the Category 2–4 photochromic lens works
Photochromic technology allows the lens tint to change according to UV exposure. In lower UV conditions, the EIGER lens remains at its lighter smoke Category 2 state. As UV exposure increases, the photochromic reaction progressively darkens the lens, allowing it to reach Category 4 in conditions that require a significantly darker filter.
This variable range is particularly useful in mountain environments, where changing weather, altitude and exposure can produce significant differences in brightness during the same route.

Important: Category 4 and driving
When the photochromic lens reaches Category 4, it becomes a very dark filter intended for extremely bright conditions. Category 4 lenses are not suitable for driving.
