CHIBA BioXCell cycling gloves are designed for cyclists who experience pressure, discomfort or numbness in their hands during longer rides. Their defining feature is the two-level BioXCell anatomical padding system, developed to distribute contact pressure more effectively across the palm while cushioning vibration from the handlebars. Combined with an 8 mm additional padded section, a grippy Digital Carbon Fibre palm and a breathable elastic back, the gloves are built for road cycling and mountain biking where secure handlebar contact, ventilation and lasting comfort are especially important.

Why Hands Can Become Numb While Cycling
Cycling places a considerable part of the rider's upper-body load through the hands and onto the handlebars. Depending on riding position, grip and time in the saddle, pressure can become concentrated in specific parts of the palm.
Two important nerves pass through the hand: the ulnar nerve and the median nerve. The ulnar nerve supplies the area associated particularly with the little finger and part of the ring finger, while the median nerve passes through the carpal tunnel region. Prolonged pressure around these areas can contribute to sensations such as tingling, discomfort or numbness while riding.
BioXCell cycling gloves are designed to address this practical problem by using strategically positioned cushioning rather than relying on a uniformly thick palm.
How CHIBA BioXCell Technology Works
The BioXCell system uses a two-level anatomical gel pad positioned around key contact areas of the palm. The gel section helps cushion pressure and vibrations generated between the hand and the handlebar, particularly around the outer part of the palm where the ulnar nerve can be exposed to repeated compression.
A further 8 mm padded section supports the central area of the hand. Together, the two levels of padding are designed to improve pressure distribution and encourage a more comfortable hand position on the handlebars.
This makes BioXCell particularly relevant for cyclists who notice hand discomfort during longer road rides or mountain bike sessions. The system is designed to support comfort and pressure relief; it should not be considered a substitute for correct bike fit or professional medical advice where persistent symptoms are present.
