Kayak glasses

Demon Kayak Glasses are designed for all disciplines that require the use of a kayak or canoe.

Sunglasses for Kayaking

Kayaking has been recognized as an Olympic discipline since the 1936 Olympic Games, encompassing various events from speed races to endurance races.

A common need for all athletes who practice kayaking is protection for their eyes from the sun, reflected light, wind, splashes of water, and any small projectiles that could come into contact with the eyes.

What Features Should Kayak Glasses Have?

  1. Lightness and Comfort:
It is essential to wear kayaking glasses that are lightweight and barely noticeable during performance. Comfort is also crucial; there’s nothing worse than wearing uncomfortable glasses, especially when undergoing significant fatigue. Using cutting-edge materials allows the athlete to focus solely on performance.

All DEMON kayak goggle frames are made from TR90, a special composite of nylon and carbon fiber that makes the glasses 20% lighter than frames made from conventional materials, while also being more elastic and resistant over time.

  • Envelopment

Another fundamental aspect is the wraparound design, which provides optimal protection for the athlete's eyes from the cold during winter competitions and training. It also shields against splashes of water that could distract the athlete during spring and summer events. The wraparound feature is a significant difference between standard sunglasses and technical sports glasses.

    Hypoallergenic Anti-Slip Rubberized Parts

The rubberized components are made of soft, non-slip, hypoallergenic Megol, a material specifically designed to prevent annoying micro-slips of the glasses on the nose. This ensures that the athlete remains focused without needing to constantly reposition the glasses.

Which Lenses Can Be Used for Kayaking?

All kayak goggle lenses are made from solid, shatterproof polycarbonate for maximum eye protection, even in the event of strong accidental impacts.

The collection includes multiple types of lenses tailored to the specific needs of the athlete:

    • Transparent Lens: This lens is suitable for low-light conditions (such as fog or very cloudy weather), late afternoons or evenings with variable brightness, and nighttime use, serving as basic protection against the wind.

    • Orange Lens: The orange lens is suitable for days with medium to low brightness. It is a high-contrast lens that enhances visibility. This lens is particularly effective on cloudy and overcast days.

    • Interchangeable Lenses:

Kayak glasses with interchangeable lenses are aesthetically appealing, featuring highly mirrored and colored lenses. The kit includes three interchangeable lenses (smoke, orange, and transparent) to adapt to varying light and atmospheric conditions.

There are several technical models for kayaking; below are some of the best-selling options:

    • Photochromic Lenses: Photochromic lenses are lenses that, when exposed to UV radiation or sunlight, undergo a reversible chemical reaction and darken. Once the light exposure disappears, the lenses gradually return to their original state of transparency. Using this type of lens for kayaking means choosing sports glasses that dynamically adapt to varying light conditions. This ensures that the eyes are always protected while allowing for maximum relaxation, enabling the athlete to concentrate solely on their performance.

Polarized Lenses: Polarized lenses offer protection from UV rays and more. This special type of lens can concentrate or diverge light rays and attenuate UV-A and UV-B radiation through a polarizing filter that eliminates horizontal reflections.

These lenses effectively shield against glare and annoying reflections caused by sunlight reflecting off reflective surfaces, such as wet asphalt, bodies of water, or metal surfaces. Polarized lenses are currently the most comfortable option available on the market for reducing eye strain.

Smoke Mirrored Lenses: The smoke mirrored lens is the most commonly used lens in sports glasses, characterized by its strong mirroring. Kayak glasses featuring this lens are aesthetically striking, and the current trend in sports eyewear is to use highly mirrored lenses. This lens is ideal for days with strong to very intense light.
