Cycling glasses with progressive lenses

Cycling glasses with progressive lenses are designed for athletes who use progressive corrective lenses to practice their favorite cycling discipline.

Cyclists across all disciplines—Mountain Bike, Road Cycling, Gravel, and more—often find it challenging to choose the most suitable glasses that meet all their needs for navigating the route and reading instruments. It is essential to have the right eyewear to practice their favorite sport in complete freedom, safety, and with optimal vision.

Cycling glasses with progressive lenses

The progressive lens is a specialized lens that guarantees a clear and dynamic view at all distances—near and far—through a single pair of glasses.

The progressive lens, also known as a multifocal lens, consists of three areas without any visible separating lines, providing an excellent aesthetic appearance and maximum comfort:

  • Near: By lowering your gaze, you will have a clear view for close objects.
  • Intermediate: This is the central portion of the lens, designed for an optimal view at medium distances.
  • Distant: This is the upper portion of the lens that provides a clear view for far objects.

With just one progressive pair of glasses, you can also correct myopia, hyperopia, and/or astigmatism. Additionally, presbyopia (difficulty focusing on close objects) can also be corrected with the same glasses at reading distance.

Why Choose Cycling Glasses with Progressive Lenses

For those who practice cycling, there are various solutions for correcting different visual defects. Generally, compromises have often been made because the clip system did not have sufficient dimensions to accommodate a progressive lens, leading to reliance on single-vision lenses for myopia correction. This often hinders the ability to read instruments or involves using direct prescriptions from frames that are not particularly technical for cycling and have an unappealing aesthetic.

DEMON has developed various solutions, both through the clip system and by offering direct prescriptions for cycling frames that support progressive lenses. The technical aspect of progressive eyewear for cyclists is essential to guarantee perfect vision on the route (Road, Dirt, Track). Furthermore, the glasses must offer maximum protection from air and projections such as dust and insects, while also being comfortable for prolonged use and effectively resistant to fogging.

However, the aesthetic aspect is just as important as the technical features of the glasses and lenses. DEMON is constantly researching and developing new designs that are both aesthetically striking and functionally effective.

Reading:

Often, athletes who use progressive lenses in everyday cycling have had to settle for glasses with single vision lenses or non-technical frames that accommodate progressive lenses during their activities. However, with single vision lenses, it is impossible to read instruments, which means giving up certain technologies.

With the advent of E-bikes, reading the screen has become almost essential to monitor all parameters, such as battery level.

Choosing cycling glasses with progressive lenses not only guarantees perfect vision for instruments but also allows you to focus solely on your performance and the pleasure of pedaling.

Types of Graduations for Cycling Glasses with Progressive Lenses:

When it comes to graduating cycling glasses with progressive lenses, there are two possible options:

  • Clip Optics:

The Clip revolutionizes the concept of the classic sports optical frame. This innovative technology is inserted directly into the frame of the sports glasses, providing protection from light and creating a "double lens" effect. The external lens features the characteristics of sports glasses, while the internal lens is transparent and progressive, ensuring a perfect view of your path.

To create progressive lenses using Clip Optics technology, generous dimensions are necessary for the athlete's optimal vision.

In the Demon PERFORMANCE collection, the cycling model that supports progressive lenses is available in three different versions:

    • Photochromic and mirrored version
    • Photochromic version
    • Mirrored version

  • Optical Support:

Optical media is an alternative for those who prefer not to use Clip Optics technology. It is possible to create prescriptions in base 8 (which can be particularly expensive); however, for those with significant astigmatism, this type of prescription can be especially costly. A prescription in base 6 using optical support is a valid alternative that reduces the possibility of lateral vision distortion and significantly lowers the cost of progressive lenses compared to base 8.
