The peculiarity of this lens is the addition in construction of the polarized filter to the already excellent 2-4 photochromic lens, which increases the visual contrast and allows a better vision of natural colors. The peculiarity of this eyewear is the flexibility of use; in fact, used at low altitudes for Trekking excursions as for extreme expeditions of Mountaineering at high altitudes and in the glacier. The 2-4 photochromic lens is a dynamic lens that adapts to every change of light and to every variation of the weather condition in a sudden way, allowing those who use it, to have always the perfect vision of their path.

Technical features:

– FRAME MATERIAL: The OUTDOOR model frame is made of TR90 Ultralight, a special composition that makes mountain sunglasses 20% lighter than frames built with conventional materials. The frame is more elastic and resistant to accidental impacts and tractions. The most important aspect of this special composition is its resistance without breakage and deformation at high and low temperatures (typical of the glacier and of the extreme expeditions at very high altitudes). The weight of the glasses is about 40 grams, essential for those who use glasses for their excursions is to forget that they are using the glasses; this is the number 1 rule of DEMON, to offer the perfect fit to allow the athlete to concentrate solely on performance. The frame material and the rubberized parts are completely hypoallergenic, so to be used for a long time without irritation to the skin. The rubberized parts are in soft non-slip Megol that stabilizes the glasses on the face and prevents all those annoying micro-slips due to walking vibrations or sudden head movements.

– LENS MATERIAL: The lenses of the OUTDOOR model are made of solid Anti-Breakage Polycarbonate. Polycarbonate is the safest material for creating sports eyewear lenses. It effectively protects from UV rays (stronger in the high mountains) and at the same time confirms itself as the safest material in case of accidental impacts, even very strong ones. In fact, in the event of (very strong impact): fall, or impact with a protruding branch, the lens distributes the shock across its entire surface, preventing the creation of fragments that could damage the user’s eye. The starting color is in very light smoke color that allows correct vision even in areas with strong shadow or with very low brightness, and in the phase of maximum work it is able to reach category 4 with the optimal light and UV conditions. Generally used for mountaineering and flying sports to better protect the eye at high altitudes. As with common photochromic lenses, the 2-4 photochromic lens, exposed to UV radiation and sunlight in general, initiates a reversible chemical reaction that darkens the surface of the lens until it reaches category 4 (when necessary). After the irradiation of light and UV, the lens gradually returns to its original color state. This special photochromic lens conceived with the mountains and the higher intensity of UV radiation and light rays in mind. The idea was to create a dynamic lens for hikers and mountaineers that adapts to every change of light present on their path. Whether you enter a wooded area, or a shady side, the lens adapts to lighten and darken quickly, so to allow the athlete constant and perfect vision. The starting color of the lens is a slight smoke haze that does not oblige the athlete to have to remove the glasses in areas with low light. At the same time, category 2 prevents glare for the eyes coming out of the shaded areas. Achieving category 4 during maximum work is due by the intensity of UV rays and light. It is important to know that this special lens is created to reach category 4 only when necessary, thus preventing too dark a view of the path. This lens also used instead of the category 4 lens for extreme expeditions (Everest, K2 and the like) because in terms of protection, it maintains the standards of category 4, but at the same time, it is dynamic in light changes.

The polarized lens offers protection from UV rays, but not only: in fact this special type of lens is able to concentrate or diverge the rays of light and to attenuate UV-A and UV-B radiation through a polarizing filter that eliminates transverse reflexes. These lenses allow you to shield the glare and those annoying reflections created when sunlight bounces on reflective surfaces, such as the wet asphalt of the road, a body of water or a metal surface. It is no coincidence that the polarized lens, created for the sport of fishing, due to the characteristic of eliminating reflections, is very useful in all water sports.
