Sunglasses to play Golf

Improve your Score

Strong solar intensity, frequent changes between lights and shadows, irregularities in the surface of the green, tired eyes for prolonged exposure to sunlight: the golf course puts the athlete in the face of many challenges, which can be tackled with considerable success wearing sports sunglasses alone, and if there is a need for a visual correction, of wrap-around technical models with prescription lenses. For the perfect game vision and to reach the score, your main goal. What kind of glasses and lenses does a golf player use?

Polarized Golf Sunglasses

Fundamental to choosing one’s glasses to play golf is the choice of the Frame:

The lighter the frame, the better. There are different opinions on the structure and materials of the frame, but a common idea for all are: Lightness and Comfort. Aluminum, titanium, are materials often used for creating golf glasses. We at DEMON use a special composition called TR90, where carbon fiber and nylon come together to create the perfect composition, 20% lighter than frames made with conventional materials, crushproof at high and low temperatures, more resistant to impact and mechanical traction (safer), more comfortable.

In addition to the material, it is important to choose the type of frame, compared to personal tastes. There are in fact athletes who prefer the use of glasses to play golf with closed frames, (such as the LIGHT model in the picture above), While other athletes prefer the use of glasses for golf, exclusively with open frame (like the LOOK model in the photo below).

A typical situation on the golf course is very strong sunlight which makes it difficult to follow the trajectory of the ball. Traditional sunglasses are often not suitable for tennis due to various factors:

• Often the lenses are not performing, and they tend to darken the vision of the game too much, and they also reduce the contrast more often than not.

• The frame of the common sunglasses is not very curved, and allows the light to filter laterally, giving that annoying sensation of not having full control of the play.

• Common frames are often not equipped with non-slip technical rubber. The glasses are subjects to frequent slips during the rotation of the shot.

• The overall weight of non-technical glasses is greater

To cope with the light that filters sideways, the frames for our sports glasses for playing golf have such curvature to better protect the athlete from the side light, without creating any distortion with base lenses 8.

The anti-slip parts are made of soft hypoallergenic rubber, this to allow the prefect grip of the glasses, without any movement, even in the case of very sudden and intense vibrations. This technology has also been developed and adapted for glasses that are not specifically for golf, because this special technology significantly increases the comfort of the glasses, while keeping product lightness.

What are the main differences in the lenses for playing golf?

It is important to be able to follow the ball and its trajectory after the shot. Even more important is to have the perfect view of the field in its entirety. And above all do not have any distortion of the sense of depth, to avoid beating a shot too long, or too short, caused by a distortion due to an unsuitable lens.

There are various types of lenses, which can be used for golf:

PHOTOCHROMIC LENSES: Photochromic lenses are lenses that, when exposed to UV radiation or sunlight in general, start a reversible chemical reaction and darken. Once the radiation of light disappears, the lenses gradually return to the initial state of transparency. They can be used for any type of weather condition:

»SMOKE: completely transparent coloring (Category 1). It darkens until Category 2.5 is reached. It remains slightly clearer during maximum work to help the eye adapt more quickly from Light to Shadow. This allows the athlete to avoid removing the “still dark” glasses due to the entrance in the shaded area. In very dense wooded areas the lens will be completely transparent, and will serve as protection from air and projections such as: leaves and branches. This special lens can be used at night as a simple protection from the air.

Photochromic Smoke Lenses for Trail Running

»DCHROM: Recommended for very strong and prolonged light exposure, it starts from a slightly veiled starting color (Category 1) and darkens until reaching category 3 (the same darkness as common sunglasses) It is particularly recommended for extended uses without large variations dark light, in fact using this lens in allows you to have a pair of glasses that you never need to take off. Same conditions even without penetrating thick areas where it can be slightly dark. We advise against this lens for those looking for a pair of glasses that can also be used for night games. DCHANGE LENSES: The DCHANGE lens package includes a set of 3 lenses that allow the use of golf glasses in all weather conditions, from very intense sun, to cloudy weather, to rain and night games or in low light. Included in the set of interchangeable lenses we find:

832 replacement yellow mirrror lenses

»Smoke Lens: Category 3, guarantees protection from UV rays. Achieves maximum performance in sunny weather and good brightness.

»Orange Lens: Category 2, guarantees protection from UV rays. Achieves maximum performance in cloudy or low light conditions.

»Transparent Lens: Category 1, also guarantees protection from UV rays. It achieves maximum performance with very low rain or brightness, or for nighttime outings.

Below is an example of lenses supplied (mirrored smoke, orange and transparent:

DPOL LENS: The polarized lens guarantees protection from UV rays, but not only: this special type of lens, in fact, is able to concentrate or diverge the light rays and to attenuate the UV-A and UV-B radiations through a polarizing filter that eliminates transverse reflections. For all these characteristics it can therefore be used in the practice of golf as it reduces eyestrain to prolonged use. It allows to follow the ball in the best way thanks to the high contrast and the best perception of natural colors.
